Tiffany A.'s Experience

Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve had pets since I was five years old, and caring for them was always one of my main responsibilities growing up. From feeding and grooming to playtime, administering medication when needed, and making sure they felt loved and cared for, looking after animals has always come naturally to me. Over the years, I’ve cared for a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, and even a rabbit. I also regularly looked after my neighbours’ two Labradors and have cared for family members’ pets, including German Shepherds and Jack Russells. More recently, I completed my first dedicated house and pet sit in Muizenberg, where I looked after an elderly dog for three days, ensuring they were comfortable, well cared for, and kept to their usual routine. I have a special place in my heart for rescue animals. My current dog, Oreo, is a rescue and has been with me for about five years, and I recently rescued a kitten named Ribbon from the streets. Caring for Ribbon has given me even more hands-on experience with young cats, and although dogs have always been my strongest area, I’m equally comfortable caring for cats and continue to learn more every day. I’m confident caring for pets of all ages and have experience administering medication when required. While I prefer walking small to medium-sized dogs, simply because I’m quite petite, I’m very comfortable providing loving, attentive care to dogs of all sizes in the home. Above all, I treat every pet as if they were my own. I understand that they’re family, and I always aim to provide a calm, loving, and reliable presence so both pets and their owners can feel completely at ease.

Before confirming a booking, I like to ask a few questions to make sure I can provide the best possible care for your pets and keep their routine as consistent as possible: * Does your pet have any medical conditions, allergies, or require any medication? * Are there any personality traits or behavioural quirks I should know about (for example, if they’re shy, anxious, reactive, or especially social)? * How long are they comfortable being left alone, if at all? * Are they primarily an indoor or outdoor pet? If they’re a cat, are they strictly indoors or are they allowed outside? * Is there a daily routine they’d be happiest sticking to, such as feeding times, walks, favourite toys, or sleeping arrangements? * Is there anything else you think would help me make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away? I find that getting to know each pet’s unique personality and routine beforehand helps make the experience as stress-free as possible for both pets and their owners.

A typical day

As a freelancer and creative based in Cape Town, my schedule is very flexible, especially during the winter months when the creative industry tends to slow down. I also work part-time at a local clothing store, where I help manage the day-to-day running of the business, usually from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm a 2:3 days a week. Outside of work, I enjoy a quiet, home-based lifestyle. I’m happiest spending time in nature, working on personal creative projects, or exploring new places. I’m not someone who goes out often, so I genuinely enjoy being at home and appreciate peaceful environments. House and pet sitting fits naturally into my routine, as I have the time, flexibility, and calm nature to give a home and its pets the care and attention they deserve. I take pride in being responsible, respectful, and reliable, and I understand how important it is for owners to know their home and beloved pets are in safe hands while they’re away.

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better person to look after my three fur babies. Each of them has their own little personality, and she took the time to get to know them and care for them exactly how they needed. One of my cats is an incredibly picky eater and often won't eat unless someone stays with him, and she patiently sat with him during mealtimes to make sure he actually ate. That level of care meant so much to me. She kept me updated while I was away, and I could tell my cats felt safe, comfortable, and well looked after. Coming home to three happy, relaxed cats gave me complete peace of mind. I would trust her with my pets again in a heartbeat and couldn't recommend her more highly.
